question on the network trace?

I intend to use the trace data in simulaion. Is the throughout really in unit of kbps?  The rate values  in the trace file range from [1,5] kbps.  It seems the throughput is such unbelievable low. Is there somwthing woring on the unit of rate?  In school, the network rate can easyly reach 200KBpb on average from 360 bar.
