In this course, we're going to turn you into a Bitcoin Lightning network developer in only 2 hours! Just bring a laptop computer to participate. This workshop is open to ATL BitLab members. Non-members are encouraged to attend, but there is a workshop fee.

What will I learn?

In this workshop we're going to build a tip jar application where people can visit a website and tip you in bitcoin using the Lightning network.

What is the Lightning network?

The Lightning network is a technology that help people to send bitcoin payments that settle typically in 1 - 2 seconds. Lightning payments also have very low transaction fees. But the magical part about it is that it's easy to integrate with web apps, meaning you can build all sorts of fun things with it if you get creative.

Do I need prior experience?

No. Just bring a laptop computer and an open-mind. It's certainly helpful for you if you have done some prior web development, but it's not required. We'll teach you everything you need to know in the workshop.

Why learn this?

In case you haven't been following the price over the past 16 years, bitcoin is sort of catching on. But you're still early to bitcoin! This workshop will teach you the basics of building with bitcoin and Lightning, which is valuable if you want to make a career shift towards working for a bitcoin company, participate in a bitcoin hackathon, or simply learn a new skill to show off to your friends.

What is the fee?

This workshop is free for ATL BitLab members. The workshop fee is $50 for non-members. We accept cash, bitcoin, credit card, and CashApp at the workshop.
