Shift, ctrl, alt, caps lock cause emoji suggestions to stop

# Steps to reproduce
1. Type `:wav`
2. Press one of the following keys: `CTRL`, `ALT`, `SHIFT`, `CAPS LOCK`, (any key that doesn't actually add to the input)

## Expected behaviour
The suggestions for `wav` continue to show

## Actual behaviour
The emoji suggestions disappear.
Continuing to type will bring them back.
