Locked down resource environment

Discussions with the commercial team have identified the opportunity of having Tiered service offerings - through fixed VM configuration.

We need a way to create a project workspace that has a virtual desktop service that has only one VM flavour that can be deployed or redeployed if not running. Ideally - not the ability to start 2 VMs at once.

The permissions model being discussed can restrict to the right VM. Can we adapt modify the virtual desktop template to only do one machine... or make the virtual desktop service and the right deployed VM an integral and linked entity?

This is needed if we provide a fixed price service offering, e.g. £200 a month for a specific VM and storage.

This is definitely possible. It's not far removed from the Archive team situation, where we're only giving the user the URL to the VM via Guacamole.

If they were smart, and could find and read the documentation, they could, in principle, create another VM. But we can block that, either with an explicit custom template, or - eventually - with the RBAC / service catalogue controls.
