Social Media Integration & User Accessibility
Social Media Integration:
I worked primarily on the social media aspect of the e-book. We looked at what type of social media was currently incorporated in the e-book (primarily DisQus and some options to share on social media). I spent some time reading up on research about how social media is used in education currently, what has proven to be useful and beneficial and what has proven detrimental to students or the classroom overall. Accordingly, I came up with a list of suggestions as to what we could possibly implement in the e-book and shared those with Katie, Mark, and Barb. I have received feedback from them via e-mail and hope to work on implementing some of the solutions accordingly over the summer.
Next Steps:
- Sort through feedback and see what can be implemented in the near future
- Sort through DisQus comments and figure out what students are currently posting about and what they may be using DisQus for as of right now
- Reach out to appropriate people to begin implementation process
User Integration:
As far as accessibility goes, I have started working on putting subtitles on all the videos for any students or teachers that may have problems hearing.
Next Steps:
- Finish adding video subtitles
- Replace old videos with new video with subtitles
