Google Chrome Memory Leak #63

@ghost

Description

Problem:

Google chrome has an issue that causes the tab to crash due to running out of memory. Manifests itself as an "Aw snap, Google Chrome ran out of memory trying to display this webpage" error. This is the only tab that crashes. Never any others.
Page in question.

Number of times encountered:

10-12 times over the last few months.

Occurrence variables:

Coffee shop connection. Network required sign-in. Network went down, but not entirely offline. Just required a second sign-in. 2-3 minutes later, tab displayed the "Aw snap" page. I had only been logged in for roughly half an hour, and had not received more than 300 messages.

Specifications:

Google Chrome Version 72.0.3626.121 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Microsoft Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.17763

No antivirus

16 Gigabytes of RAM

Intel core i7-6700HQ

Integrated Graphics

Reproducing:

Unknown. More testing will be required in order to pin down what is causing the leak. It has happened repeatedly, but always on networks that require sign-in. I am unaware if this works with any other browser, and cannot test them.

Potential ramifications:

Without knowing the specific issue, it is difficult to assess whether this is an actual problem or not. I lack the means to test it further myself, but should I find a simple way to, I will do so and update this issue.
