Silent crash on login

I downloaded the repo, moved talk32.exe to it's root dir, extracted the contents of cache.7z into appdata\local\Talk32\cache, and ran talk32.exe. After pasting in my auth token I clicked "Log In", and the program immediately closes itself with no error popup and no message in the console

start in compatibility mode

@KaanAlper is right. I found out yesterday that it works on Windows 8.1 in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode.

I just fixed this issue. The code was using 2 different pointers to the left sidebar data (the list of channels and categories) and one of them was bad on Windows versions above XP.
