Stardrop enable/disable not working

Hello! I have my stardrop set up and it’s showing all my mods and I can launch Stardew from stardrop, but the enable/disable isn’t working. I can toggle it, but when I launch the game, it’ll still load in all of my mods and not the ones I specifically selected. I’m on Mac. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i was facing this issue myself, but found a slight workaround

background: when you select and unselect mods, Stardrop organizes a bunch of symlinks for them in ~/Library/Application Support/Stardrop/Data/Selected Mods

however, smapi doesn't seem to use this filepath when launching from within Stardrop, it uses the default Mods folder still. so, there's the issue itself. from what i can tell, this may be a limitation purely of SMAPI not having a way to set its modpath via a configuration file on macos. maybe.

in any case, there's a slight workaround but it does add a new step to the process and change the way you utilize the app, but maybe @Floogen can implement this for the macos app somehow by changing how the Play button works in the app since the command is universal

FIX:

first off, to clarify, the fix introduces extra steps. you first need to enable or disable your mods and then launch Stardew via Stardrop by hitting the Play chicken button.

this will fail, but once in the game, you can quit it. by hitting the Play button in Stardrop, the app created those aforementioned symlinks in the Selected Mods folder

then, you can open Terminal and run

~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew\ Valley/Contents/MacOS/StardewModdingAPI --mods-path ~/Library/Application\ Support/Stardrop/Data/Selected\ Mods

and it will load SMAPI/Stardew with the mods you've selected and not the ones you haven't.

to make it a bit easier, you can make a .command file so that when you double click the command file, it will run SMAPI with the correctly disabled/enabled mods so long as you've run the game once after changing what's enabled and disabled in Stardrop and let it fail to disable the mods.

to do that, open Text Edit, hit Format in the menu bar and then Make Plain Text. paste the following:

~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew\ Valley/Contents/MacOS/StardewModdingAPI --mods-path ~/Library/Application\ Support/Stardrop/Data/Selected\ Mods

hit Save, make sure to unclick the "If no extension is provided, use .txt." setting. name it something like SMAPI to Selected Mods.command and save it to your Desktop

open a new Terminal window and type in

chmod u+x ~/Desktop/SMAPI\ to\ Selected\ Mods.command

you will obviously have to edit the above command if you use different names for the command file or save it somewhere other than your Desktop

now the .command file will run like an app, you can double click it and it'll open SMAPI/Stardew and have the Mods folder pointed to the Selected Mods folder

I am also having this issue on Mac, however, my enable/disable was working prior to the latest update. I had enabled per-profile saving of their own config.json per the pop-up I received since the latest update and then enabling/disabling seemed to break. Not sure if that helps.

i've gone ahead and made a simple AppleScript app that does all of the above, but can be placed in your macOS Dock for ease of use. it's made entirely with apple's Script Editor and the base code is just telling it to run the same command as above.

the code inside is:

with this, you can enable/disable the apps in Stardrop, launch it and let it fail to enable/disable some, then use this app to launch Stardew/SMAPI with the correct Selected Mods folder. the app will launch, launch Terminal, run the command, then the app (not Terminal) will close and when launched again, will do the same thing again.

if you want to create the app yourself, you can open Script Editor in your Applications/Utilities folder, paste the code right above, then hit Save and set the File Format to Application. the only difference between what you'll end up with and the download above is the app icon, which i've posted below. it uses the macOS design template, so it looks...nicer.

save the image above. find the app you just created with Script Editor, right click it, hit Get Info, and drag the image ontop of the placeholder app icon in the top right of the window that appears
