Workshop 3 Temperature Values: Out of Range

Note: resistors in my kit turned out to be brown-green-red (7.5k ohms) rather than the brown-black-red (1000 ohm) resistors in the online picture, but that shouldn't change the voltage divider.

The first 2 workshops worked perfectly, but I'm having issues with the 3rd workshop. The tutorial links is here.

I tested this on 2 temperature sensors (I had another TMP36 from an arduino kit), and had the same result, so I don't think the sensor is busted.

I've checked all the wiring several times. I am at room temperature (65-75 degrees F), but I am getting raw value readings of less than 100 (which result in a printed temperature of -40 degrees F). If I hold the sensor, sometimes the value goes down to 30 and sometimes it goes up to 300.

Would appreciate any ideas about how to debug this. I'm copying a link to my wiring here.

Update: attempting changing the pull-up resistor value, or using a capacitor connected to the analog read pin, no improvement

Currently looking into the docs for ESP8266 and for the TMP36 as it seems other people have had issues with this sensor on other IOT devices too

Sorry for the delayed response - it doesn't look like we got a notification from GitHub that an issue was submitted :/

We have been getting sporadic reports of oddness with the TMP36 and ESP8266. We have not yet definitively discovered the root cause - they've been kind of all over the place. The most recent was a bad wire connecting the ground line to the voltage divider - I might recommend trying that first: https://forums.losant.com/t/structure-builder-kit/17/5
