Feature: Virtual lights for layer control

I would like to create virtual lights for a layer, as an alternative to dealing with the action-based system. These lights could then be controlled in automations and other places, and basically tells the system that the layer wants that lamp to do in that layer. So when a specific layer with virtual lights is active, it can just check the states of the virtual lights and copy them to the real lights.

I can think of a couple of use-cases for this:

• Use my existing adaptive lighting config instead of the custom action included
• Control the layer through regular automations (which is sometimes more convenient, depending on the complexity)

I understand this might be a difficult feature to reconcile with the current system. So I totally understand if it's out of scope for the project.

Would this be good?:

• for each light in a layer with virtual lights activated, add a light entity with the name of that light + "Virtual for layer x" or smth
• the light is off by default
• as soon as that virtual light entity changes and the current layer is active, set the light state

Difficult points:

• other attributes (color, effects)

So I totally understand if it's out of scope for the project.

Nothing is out of scope, just wait until it turns into an os, emacs style

Yes, that's perfect! And when the current layer activates, set the light state to whatever the virtual light is set to.

Hmm, at least colors seem good to include. Idk how the HASS api works, but it would be nice if the virtual lights had the same "capabilities" as the real lights, and just copied all of that state over.

Haha that's fine, totally get that with the tests and all. I've been busy with flerdim anyway so I didn't realize :)
