Feature request: Adding milestones to a track

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

[comment]: # While hiking I like to quickly estimate how far I my next destination is. Adding milestones to the track ( waypoint every x km) would show exactly that.

Personally I am not interested. The trip computer of my Garmin gives me the distance and time of the recording. It also calculates the estimated time of arrival/ distance for the complete route or the next intermediate destination. Same applies for my TwoNav device. And I am pretty sure most of the smartphone apps provide similar features.

Same here. My GPS shows also the distance to the saved POIs. I am just not sure if the shown distance is air distance or way distance. And this works only correctly if the GPS thinks i am on the route/track. Anyway, such feature would be pretty useless for me.
