I would like to advocate for writing all the values in the FATES parameter file into the log file.
At the moment we write the path, but often, when one is running sensitivity tests, PPEs, etc, there is significant scope for human error, which can and does waste a lot of time. If you could just query the log file (as opposed to finding the path the the parameter file and going to look in it) this would make it easier to check what we are doing, and also guard against, for example, writing over parameter files later and losing a record of what you ran with.
In an ideal world where none of us made any errors, this would be redundant. But given that the log file is huge anyway, I don't see that this would have many downsides and might help us out when we are trying to disentangle and troubleshoot complex workflows.
I think the same is true for CTSM, but that's a different repo...
