How to play without the internet with dxgi enabled? #152

Hello!
Can you advise how to play for someone whose internet has been disconnected?
Yesterday, I had some internet issues and thought I'd play a game and check my mod build.
But... I couldn't — the game wouldn't start past the main menu, because NSE is tightly tied to checking and updating the version from the internet (I'm surprised why this is even necessary on a permanent basis.).
What are some ways to disable constant checking and internet access for the script? I think this is also not entirely safe?
