Details
Terraform support for PostgreSQL 18 on Azure Database for PostgreSQL is generally available for creating and upgrading servers. The Ansible module update is generally available, adding GA REST API support, Elastic Clusters provisioning, and PostgreSQL 18 deployment. Azure CLI introduces a GA --zonal-resiliency parameter (with optional --allow-same-zone) to enable default zone-redundant high availability. Updated SDKs for Go, Java, JavaScript, .NET, and Python are released on GA REST API 2025-08-01, adding default database name for Elastic Clusters, PostgreSQL 18 support, and API refinements. Premium SSD v2 support for Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server is in public preview, enabling HA, geo-redundant backups, in-region and geo read replicas, Geo-DR, and major version upgrades, with higher scalable IOPS/throughput and low latency. Latest PostgreSQL minor versions (18.1, 17.7, 16.11, 15.15, 14.20, 13.23) are auto-applied with two security fixes and 50+ bug fixes; PostgreSQL 13.23 is the final community release for v13. The January 2026 maintenance release delivers engine updates, new extensions, Elastic Clusters enhancements, migration and Fabric mirroring support, analytics/security/observability additions, improved Query Store performance, new WAL metrics, enhanced networking flexibility, and scheduled rollout starting January 20, 2026.Suggestions

- docs-ref-conceptual/Latest-version/release-notes-azure-cli.md:
- In the January 13, 2026 “RDBMS” section, add a new bullet explicitly documenting the new parameters: “az postgres flexible-server create/update: Add --zonal-resiliency (GA) to enable default zone‑redundant high availability; add optional --allow-same-zone to permit same-zone standby placement when required.” Place this near the existing high availability and zonal resiliency entry.
- Update the existing bullet “Show high availability feature with zonal resiliency argument” in the January 13, 2026 “RDBMS” section to replace the generic wording with the specific flags: “…with --zonal-resiliency and optional --allow-same-zone arguments,” ensuring consistency with other release note entries that list exact parameter names.
