Content Licenses  #34

Description

@MisterPhilip

The decision of which license applies to a specific piece of content published on the website is the author's responsibility. When creating content, the user has the opportunity to select from a predefined select box of available licenses. Each selectable licence should have the following information attached to it, which should be displayed at the bottom of the published content:

  • License name
  • Brief description
  • URL for full information
  • Logo / graphic (optional)

Suggested licenses include all available Creative Commons variations, GPL, BSD, MIT, etc. The "final" list is to be agreed upon before launch, but can be modified at any point. The select box should be defaulted to the least permissive license.

Alternatively, we could opt to use the LicenseChooser.js from the Creative Commons developer site. This would allow for users to easily select which license is best suited for their work. However, this does not allow for anything outside of the CC variations as mentioned above.
