Globes that are not Earth?

What is the viability of making this project work with tile sets that are not necessarily the Earth? Say I wanted to take another tile set, maybe from the moon? I might not have terrain data either, but definitely would eventually.

Before I started tearing into trying to make it work with dynamic globe sizes, I wanted to ask you if you thought it was feasible, and how much work it might take?

It sounds like it'd be pretty straightforward. Create the tiles (more so graphics than anything else), and terrain data. Then create a method that changes which set is loaded... of course it probably isn't that simple. Good luck!
