Conference clutter in Seattle Matrix directory

A community member reported that SeaGL conference rooms are cluttering the Seattle Matrix room directory:

This is unintentional. Ideally only the top-level space should be listed.

There are two issues I see in the screenshot, old conference channels we've been meaning to archive and private channels that should only be visible if you're in the staff space (e.g., SeaGL-Tech). This issue is maybe related to the latter?
