The monitoring scripts (seattle/trunk/monitor_script/) are a bit of a mess and don't have good error handling. Someone needs to take a hard look at them and produce reasonable, error resilient scripts that will send sane error messages.

We have been getting false alarms due to coding errors.

Justin, could you provide an example of such a message? I'm looking at the monitoring scripts in the mentioned directory and it seems to be fine.
Its possible that I wasn't on the admin list while these errors were getting reported as well.
