Some Bounding Boxes Are Imported as Polygons Instead of Rectangles

When uploading annotation files to the dataset, even though isbbox=true is set, some bounding boxes are still saved as polygons instead of rectangles. Could you please check if this is expected behavior or a possible issue?

This probably could happen when moving a corner of the BBox.
It's probably an original coco-annotator behavior.
I'll have to verify.
Did you noticed any other case ?

I did some tests and here are my what I can say about coco-annotator-ng:

• Bbox are saved as bbox and segments and isbbox is true
• Bbox modified with Eraser are saved as bbox and segments and isbbox is true
• BBox modified with Brush are saved as bbox and segments and isbbox is false
• Brush path are saved as bbox and segments and isbbox is false
• When loading elements with isbbox = true, elements are handle as bbox (elements can be moved)
• When loading elements with isbbox = false, elements are not handle as bbox (elements can't be moved)

Although behavior can be discutable (should a BBox modified by eraser still be isbbox = true?) ,
I see no real problem here.

All tests has been done using coco-annotator-ng.

Does imported datasets have been created using coco-annotator variant or from another tool ?

Can you provide a problematic dataset json file? (simply click on "Download COCO" button then copy/past .json content.
