Operations for an account API does not return operation for account creation with starting balance

Hello.

When I was trying to access the operations or transactions for an account, the sum total of all payments if not equal to the account balance for XLM. The only thing that I see missing is the amount that was loaded to the account when it was created.
I want to access that operation and not able to find any documentation for the same.

This issue is likely due to incorrect data on StellarExpert — their status banner reports ingestion problems causing missing or wrong transactions. Please cross-check using another explorer like StellarChain.io , or query Horizon directly.

Hello @manran. Thank you for replying. I checked the status page. I checked the transactions in StellarChain.io as well.

The account balance is 17.1358931 XLM but all transactions total is 9.6e-06 XLM in 96 transactions/operations. Where do I look for to get information about those extra ~17 XLM ?

@pratts if I understand correctly: you are wondering where the 17.1358931 are coming from. This is as you pointed out coming from the account creation itself. We can see that the account was created by sending funds from Coinbase. This is how Stellar (and many blockchain) work. To effectively create an account on-chain, you need to initialise the account with a starting amount. In that case, 17.1358931 were transferred from Coinbase to that account.

Oh I think I am just understanding what you want. Transaction history is capped at 1y now on public Horizon. This is why you do not see the creation operation itself. You need to use another indexer for that. See the developers.stellar.org docs for alternatives.

Hi @pratts, just to follow up on what @tupui said: Your account creation happened in 2023, but the historical data SDF's Horizon provides only goes up to the end of 2024. That's why you won't be able to find that specific record on the SDF Horizon instance.

For now, you can check those older transactions using a tool like Hubble. You can find the docs here: https://developers.stellar.org/docs/data/analytics/hubble

If you're set on using Horizon to look up those older records, you might want to try the instance provided by Blockdaemon. Their nodes keep the complete history, and they offer some free credit.
