What happened?

When I start the VM and let it capture the mousepointer then (a) the host mousepointer is still visible on that host monitor (and only there) where I confirmed the capture mousepointer dialog.
And (b) the mousepointer in the guest OS is jumping sometimes.
It does not matter on which state the installed guest OS is, this effect (a) can already be seen when the guest OS shows only the bootscreen. When the mouse integration later kicks it is then it is in a kindof seamless state - let I recapture the mousepointer again the effect is visible again.

I expect in that case that the mousepointer of the host is not visible.

It is visible but cannot drag somehing. It moves quasi parallel (not really) to the mousepointer in the guest system when the guestsystem is fully booted. But when it touches the right border it continues left and vice versa and also top/bottom. It is optically disturbing to see 2 mousepointers. And I guess this mouse hopping in the Guest (b) is linked to that problem.

Here is my system:

How can we reproduce this?

  • Debian 11 +

  • ii virtualbox-7.2 7.2.6-172322-Debian-bullseye amd64 Oracle VirtualBox

  • start guest OS (Debian 13 but it don't seem to matter)

  • capture mouse pointer
