legend() placement and contents

          Dear Sarah, I am confused about what will be added to the map when using the legend() function. I only can see a box with black text. However, I hope for a series of colored circles and rectangles as a legend like the attached figure. Could please give me some suggestions about the legend ?

@judyssister I made this a new issue as I think it's distinct from the one I posted about. Could you please post a minimal reproducible example of your legend issue? legend() is a graphics function so you can look in that help file too.

@judyssister @drserajames There might be a solution to the problem. You can use ggplot as https://acorg.github.io/Racmacs/reference/ggplot.acmap.html described. It is easy to add some personalized graphics or text labels with ggplot.

Can you all clarify how you were able to get the legend and labels on the plot to appear as you did? I have been trying to use the legend() and setLegend() functions and have been unable to get them to work (setLegend() does not appear to do anything, and when I use legend() the text appears but the symbols showing what symbol corresponds to what group do not). Apologies if this is a naive question but I've had a hard time finding documentation for how these functions are supposed to be used.

@GeneXomics you need to set the symbols in the legend function using the pch argument. If you're still having problems then make a new issue with a minimal reproducible example and I will try to help.
