Yeah, I have seen that too in various Joomla versions. The problem is that Joomla itself reports a failure, typically in the post-upgrade step when Joomla tries to update the database schema. However, at this point your site's files have been replaced by the new version which is where the version information comes from. Note: All of the sites that had this problem were upgraded from Joomla 3 to 4 at some point, and the database schema was indeed not fully updated during that upgrade. The discrepancy between what Joomla expected the schema to be and what it actually was is what was causing the post-upgrade code to fail. Also note that Joomla Update itself will NOT throw an error when the post-upgrade reports a failure as there's a redirection made right away, thus taking you away from the page where the error messages would have appeared. Anyway. To be on the safe side, go to your site's System, Database page and check if there are database errors to fix in the Joomla entry. If there are, select it and click on the fix button in the toolbar. |

Today I initiated an upgrade from Joomla 5.3 to 5.4 using the Panopticon console.
Before the upgrade, a backup was successfully completed — I received a confirmation email stating that the backup finished without issues. However, shortly after, I received another email saying:
"Panopticon was unable to install the new Joomla! version 5.4.0 on your site..."
Despite this failure notice, when I checked the Panopticon console, the site appeared to be successfully upgraded to version 5.4. I also logged into the Joomla admin panel, and it confirms that the site is now running Joomla 5.4.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of mismatch between Panopticon's email alerts and the actual upgrade status? Could this be a false negative or a timing issue with the notification system?
Any insights would be appreciated!
