I have a simple hack to get it to run in parallel is to play a bit with a state file. Probably not suitable for many files, but if you need to get to one/two files it is possible to use it.

• Start cracking/ctrl+c it right after start. pdfcrack will save a state file.
• Make several copies of the state file, as many as the number of CPUs you want to load.
• Modify each file to increase the point where it will continue (the last line defines where it is, the line before it defines the charset).
• Run another instance with the modified state file.
• Repeat.

For example, the last 2 lines of a state file:
Charset(62): abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ0123456789
6 45 54 18 12 23 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1

Charset list is indexed from 0, so 0 == a, 6 == g. Last 23 means x. You can calculate the rest if you want. But it is not necessary. Let's change it to start at aaaaaA:
0 0 0 0 0 26 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1
or to start at aaaaaE:
0 0 0 0 0 30 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1

This way when you run pdfcrack with the modified state file it will start at the position you want. From here it is a matter of creating files depending on the number of CPUs you can use and running them in parallel.

The threading solution would surely be more elegant that this hack, on the other hand this took about 1 hour to look at the file from 0 knowledge about pdfcrack to this solution, I would not be able to do C-threading that fast for sure :-D.

If pdfcrack could use all the threads of a CPU, it would be nice...
Running pdfcrack on a Intel Core2Duo P8800 and I get:

and while it was running, I ran htop and I saw one thread being used.
