raspicomm_Init() returns with ERR_OPEN_EDGE_DEV.

After updating to kernel 3.6.11+ and recompling raspicomm, raspicomm_Init() always returns ERR_OPEN_EDGE_DEV. raspicommd was stopped before.

Any ideas?

After some investigation, I found out that the raspicomm kernel module occupied gpio17.

So what is the right way to use both the kernel module (ttyRPC0) and the other raspicomm features, i.e. polling the inputs (joystick)?

Seems not to be a kernel (update) problem.
