can't use any mysql instruction

I just downloaded mysql software, and type "mysql", or "mysql status". But it popped out:
/Users/jay/.local/bin/mysql: No such file or directory
So I found out where the "mysql" file that I just downloaded was, and moved it to the direction above.
Then It went:
/Users/jay/.local/bin/mysql: is a directory
But still can't work.
I've googled it but didn't find anyone has the same problem as me.
How can I fix it?

How did you install MySQL?

I downloaded from the link https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.7.html#downloads,
with the first file (mysql-5.7.24-macos10.14-x86_64.dmg).
And when I uncompress the file, it popped out a message that gave me a temporary password for localhost.
My friend said there should be several instructions to set my root-password, but I just got from the message directly.
That's all the process I've done to downloaded the task.

Did you try to install with the command line?

My computer is mac, so I just used brew to install mysql.
but it still shows No such file or directory when i type mysql -uroot.

And i noticed that it downloaded the files to /usr/local/Cellar/mysql/,
so i've typed alias mysql=usr/local/Cellar/mysql/.
Is this movement correct?

It is fine as long as it works.

Please follow exactly what the guide tells you. If you still have a problem following the procedure, I think Google will definitely give you an answer.
