Reseting av branch history

I tried to do an av stack reorder and I was dumb and I made a branch its own parent. I hit an error. I tried to do av stack reorder --abort but I lost branches. av was saying the branches were already adopted but they weren't showing up in av stack tree. I was able to find them in git and I tried to orphan all branches and adopt them again. When I tried to orphan the missing branch I got an error that began with:

My solution right now is to directly edit .git/av/av/db to point the branch to a different parent.
