What are we trying to accomplish:

A database of appliance information that can be easily searched/matched to get detailed information about major home appliances.

Possible applications:

For their current appliances, users could ideally find their appliance based on a name and/or model number and get accurate specifications and energy efficiency measurements.

For new or potential appliances, they could get a filtered list of appropriate options as well as the specifications / energy efficiency of each.

For applications, like the Home Energy Assessment Database, it could obtain exact appliance efficiency estimates for the homeowner’s specific unit.

This database could also support a user platform to review, discuss, and recommend appliances, as well as upload user content (pictures, lifespan, etc.)

The above platform could also be accessed (and supported) via a module that allows consumers to upload appliance information into a home profile simply by taking a picture. This could also provide appliance recommendations tailored to their home profile.
