I ran into this issue when connecting Claude Code to my MCP server. The problem is that Claude Code sends the resource parameter with a trailing slash (e.g., https://example.com/) during OAuth authorization, but audienceMatches() computes the resource server as ${protocol}//${host} which never has a trailing slash. The strict equality fails.

I have a working fix in my fork: pguillory/workers-oauth-provider@fix/trailing-slash-audience

The change is minimal - just normalize trailing slashes before comparison:

  const normalizedAudience = audienceValue.replace(/\/+$/, );
  return normalizedResource === normalizedAudience;
}

I ran into this issue as well. For now, I used a quick fix by serving MCP on the /sse route instead of /.
