[self-tests] dependency on unmaintained nest_asyncio

One of the tests dependencies is nest_asyncio. Its repo is archived:

This creates corresponding risks for maintenance of the project.

I feel unless it creates problems it's fine to keep it around. Are there clear alternatives I should use instead?
