Surprised I can't find any kind of standard or recommended JSON format for GPS data beyond this nascent effort. SNON is not suitable as it treats location as a sensed value or a fixed sensor attribute, rather than a spatio-temporal dimension.

still where i started this what looks oike 2 years ago. if you have any feedback or even feel like contributing, i am still interested. i think there is some opportunity here, since more and more people are working out with GPS, and still there is a lack of open and extensible formats.

yes, i also haven't seen anything else. this may also mean that the world is ok as it is, and everybody is happy with their data living in silos, or being represented in proprietary and/or XML formats.

I have a GPS tracker installed in my boat, currently lying unattended by anchor for a week, so me and my son are currently working together on creating some presentations to display the track and alarms to see if the boat moves beyond the expected diameter. The GPS data from the tracker is in some horrid format, so the idea now is to publish it in JSON. Considering to use JTT for this.

sadly, 3 years later and still no progress on this one... the world could still use an open GPS format and one that's JSON-based, i think, but it seems that GPX works good enough for most and owns the market.
