<Type of "post" is partially unknown> with pylance in async get/post method call

Hi, I am running my vscode in strict mode. Pylance is detecting error with below code await client.post(url=self.login_url) with type hint. But as per documentation httpx is typed library. Am I doing something wrong ?

No, you are not doing anything wrong. The issue is the definition of "fully typed": we have types everywhere but a lot of them are technically incomplete.

Can you expand upon this? We have a strange situation where client.post is giving this diagnostic (we use pyright, but it is the same diagnostic) in one usage of client.post, but not another, even though their invocations are identical, i.e., of this form:

    async with httpx.AsyncClient() as client:
        result: httpx.Response = await client.post(
            "some_url",  # a str
            json=some_payload,  # either a dict or a typeddict
            timeout=20,  # obviously an int
        )
