Incompatible SD cards - will this be fixed?

libogc and MINI use completely different sets of code to talk to SD cards, so a card that works in one may not work in the other. For reasons unclear, MINI does not work with a random 25% of all SD cards; we are constantly striving to increase compatibility, but in the mean time you might want to try another card.

This issue has existed for around 17 years. I know fail0verflow has moved on from Wii hacking, but has there been a resolution to this? Would it be possible for a patch to be issued? Any pointers or hints for anyone else who'd like to try figuring this out themselves?

Seems to be caused by a timeout issue.
