Reconnect logic for OPC UA South Plugin?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently planning to use Fledge to collect data from several OPC UA servers, and while testing the OPC UA South Plugin, I noticed that it doesn't seem to automatically reconnect if the connection to a server is lost (or even if the OPC server is started later than Fledge).
Before diving into a custom implementation, I wanted to ask:

• Is there a technical or architectural reason why automatic reconnect logic isn't part of the plugin (or did I miss it)?
• Are there any known workarounds or upcoming features that address this?
• Would a pull request implementing a configurable reconnect mechanism be welcome?

Hi Johann,

we have two OPCUA south services, on e based on free OPUA and the other on the S2OPCUA library. The later is the more recent one and more fully featured. We stopped developing the freeopcua based plugin because of issues with it handling different security models. I would recommend using the s2opuca south service, which has much greater compatibility with different OPCUA implementations and also fully support reconnection.
