How to deal with Big data?

Thanks for sharing this wonderful project. But I notice that we use the matrix to represent the rating-matrix, items.  It's acceptable and fast in the small-data background.
Could you please provide any good suggestion to deal with the situation that processing the **big data** such as **billion of users and items**?
