What's the problem or limitation?

Currently gotailwind supports adding tailwind but not any plugins (afaik) like DaisyUI

Add some kind of control flow (maybe a cli flag) to change the binary to tailwind-cli-extra

@zangster300 great idea. I need to think about this some more. Hopefully I can come up with a generic solution.

@zangster300 so it seems possible to use daisyui with tailwindcss cli without npm here.

And that will work for daisy. But what about other plugins?

However, I think we can do better. I've been experimenting with a simple npm implementation in golang. If I download the files into node_modules tailwindcss finds them. But going that path basically means building a js package manager. I have something that works at a very basic level with no dependencies. So I could add an --install-plugins switch to scan the input file for @plugin and install anything that is missing.

So the question is, do I go that route? It was meant to be a simple wrapper. But I'm having fun and I like my workflow and tools to be simple. So I may take the plunge.

I did consider downloading another app like npm but that's not very go friendly and then the simplicity of gotailwind is diminished. But we'll see. I'll create a simple POC.

For what it's worth using the standalone will absolutely work for me, I didn't even realize that was a thing!

Thanks for the feedback. Even so I'd like to explore the possibility of using plugins. I was certainly able to make some of them function with a simple package manager I'm now working on. It could become a thing :)

Not having to worry about manually fetching different standalone tailwind plugins or needing to install node/npm sounds like a winning combo to me!
