Create3 firmware building and programming

This is not related to this repository, but I do not know where else to post this.

Is there any way to reprogram the on-board controller that runs a Linux/Busybox environment on the create3?

Is the source code available? I would like to, for example, change the behaviour of the dock and undock actions. How can I compile and build an image to be written to the on-board microcontroller / SoC?
