Twenty years ago, on November 27, 2004, I committed the very first version of Lab::VISA to my CVS repository. What started as a small project to meet my own measurement needs turned out to be useful for others in the scientific community, both in academia and industry. That realization was truly thrilling for me.
It's heartening to see the project still alive and thriving in 2024, thanks to the contributions and efforts of so many talented people [1]. I especially want to thank Andreas for taking the lead and keeping the project vibrant for so long, as well as everyone who has contributed along the way — whether through code, feedback, or simply by using it in your work.
Good luck with your measurements, and here’s to the next 20 years of innovation and discovery!
Daniel
