Very fun project! I'm hoping to combine overtone and core.async in a project myself, seems like a good match!

A couple of suggestions:

• don't use octaves for the different tones. It seems the previous tones are still kind of resonating in my ear. Maybe use non-nice intervals, so that the brain more easily forgets the past tone.
• randomize tones instead of moving from low to high. Eg. playing a tone at a couple of intensities and then moving to another tone, etc.
• the steps are a bit too fine-grained. Or maybe I just had the volume too low :-)

Thanks for the suggestions: I'm currently reworking some of the behaviour and I think you're probably right about jumping around the frequencies. I sat in my girlfriends most recent (and simple) audiogram test and the audiologist did random frequencies and seemed to return to some, so there's definitely some "knack" to how to do this to get a good result.

Maybe if I change this then the choice of tested frequencies will be less of an issue, as these were picked from an audiogram I had to hand and appear to be a standard set (although I could throw in several sets of these just for fun!).
