git clone SPTAG repo fails in PowerShell

Running
git clone --recurse-submodules https://github.com/microsoft/SPTAG

It ends with an error

My git version is git version 2.52.0.windows.1

Interesting that cloning under WSL succeeds.

Sounds like it's a Windows path problem:

The error happens because the submodule contains a path that is illegal on Windows: python/xnvme-core/aux/patch_ctypes_bindings.py. On Windows, AUX is a reserved device name (like CON, PRN, NUL, COM1, etc.), so a directory or file named aux cannot be created. Git detects this and fails the checkout of that submodule, which breaks the recursive clone.
