Description
The compute tool is a great example of the cognitive load a customer would need to go through to understand what service this tool is operating on. Compute, generally, means a class of services, not a specific service. These docs are good examples that there isn't a single service but a class of services which are identified as compute).
- Architecture Center compute service selection guide
- Azure Documentation for Compute class of services
If you look at the CLI output of the compute namespace, you can get hints about what services are involved because VMSS and DISK are both used. When I look for those in docs, I see they are in the Virtual Machines docset.
Can there be a specific list of services which a namespace uses under the covers within the CLI results? I can imagine the best practices tools may not want to list any service, or all services.
In order for the customer and the customer docs to align the tool to the correct service(s) and their docs, can the CLI be improved with this information?
