Extension may block (freeze) build

I started to use this nice extension with VS2019 (16.11.2) and encountered a kind of hanging builds: IDE reports (in status bar) that the build has started, but nothing is printed into the output window, and the compilation actually isn't progressing.
Since such issues didn't happen at all with my PC/projects (I use C++ mainly) before, I decided it was this extension to blame. Disabling the extension solved the problem.
Maybe specific to my setup.
OS: Windows 10 19H3 64-bit (without updates)
