TipTap now includes first class markdown support (as of writing marked as "beta"), see: https://tiptap.dev/docs/editor/markdown/examples#read-and-write-markdown

We should research migrating from our custom markdown integration to using the native TipTap features.

FYI @vivinkrishna-ni we noticed that TipTap now has first class markdown support (though still in beta). Could be interesting research / innovation day topic to see what it looks like to adopt the new native tiptap markdown functionality over our custom markdown serialization behavior and report issues / feature requests upstream.
