Executive Summary
OpenAgents aims to become the foundational network layer for agent ecosystems. Our 2026 strategy focuses on two parallel tracks:
To support this mission, OpenAgents is formalizing its contributor structure into four major directions:
These directions collectively shape the evolution of OpenAgents as the open network layer for agents.
Contributor Team-level Directions
1. Infra
Building the foundational infrastructure of OpenAgents.
The Infra Team focuses on:
Goal: Ensure OpenAgents is reliable, scalable, and capable of powering open, networked agent ecosystems.
2. Integrations
Connecting OpenAgents to the broader agent tooling ecosystem.
This team builds and maintains integrations with:
Goal: Make OpenAgents easy to adopt by meeting developers where they already are.
3. Applications
Showcasing what becomes possible only because OpenAgents exists.
This team builds:
Goal: Demonstrate the power of OpenAgents through real, inspiring applications.
4. Community
Growing and empowering the global OpenAgents community.
The Community Team focuses on:
Goal: Build a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable community of developers and contributors.

North Star for Development
OpenAgents aims to become the interop and network layer for agents.
Most developers already use frameworks they love — OpenAgents integrates with them rather than replaces them.
Openness and compatibility drive distribution.
