Preserve the image's location

Hello, I'll just leave this here as one of the features I'd like to see in the app.
Saving the image's location after switching to another image. When the image changes, it should have a motion animation like in Picasa.

Check the settings. v2.5.9 added the option to remember the pan, zoom and rotation.
It doesn’t do the transition animation, but it looks like that would slow things down.

why would it slow things down? picassa works perfectly with much more animations, no lags, fast and the app looks alive. In FlyPhotos there’s a lack of animations so the app feels very static

When skipping through images it would be annoying to wait for the image to finish moving into position before it can be viewed properly. It hinders fast review.

It works fine but doesn't add any useful function. It is hard to properly view an image in motion so you have to wait for it to move into position. Anyway, the important functional bits you asked about, zoom and location (pan), are an available option.

the app is good when its developer adds small details that overall make their app alive. Picasa was made by google but has attention to details like in Apple’s software. All the small animations and features here and there made Picasa that loved by windows users.

But ultimately that development effort couldn't be justified and it was sadly abandoned by Google. Now it is old and doesn't support the latest file formats.

There are already animations for the 1:1 and Fit to Screen actions.

I hadn’t considered adding animations during image switching earlier because until a couple of months ago FlyPhotos didn’t support per-photo pan/zoom persistence.

Adding a transition animation while switching images needs to be done very carefully. I had burnt a lot of midnight oil to shave off each millisecond to make image switching as fast as it is now, and any animation being inserted needs to be done without affecting performance.

As a first step, animation cancellation needs to be made more solid. At the moment you can see that if you switch images while a zoom animation (including 1:1 or Fit) is in progress, the animation can spill over into the next image since proper cancellation isn’t fully in place yet.

Since this won't be an easy mod, can we wait for a few more upvotes to gauge interest in the feature ? 🙂

I just checked the animation for changing image size to 1:1 and fit the screen, and i think they need to be made a bit faster. But appreciate you for making them not just a static transition <3
