Question about save location & multiple files in tabs

Hello dear Notepad3 developers,

Notepad3 is a very good little editor, and I use it frequently in my daily work.

I'd like to report a minor bug (if that's even a bug) and have a suggestion for improvement:

When I start the editor and create a new file, the Notepad3 program path (C:\Program Files\Notepad3) is always set as the save location. I then always have to manually select the Documents folder. Is there a way to preset the Documents folder for new files so that I don't have to select it every time?

And it would also be great if it were possible to edit multiple files at once. Several editors, including the original Notepad from Windows 11, have tabs for this. Is something like this planned for Notepad3 in the future? I would be very happy if it were!

Yes, it's very simple: go to Settings --> Advanced Configuration --> Open Settings File or simply press Ctrl+F7.

Then uncomment ;DefaultDirectory= and add C:\Users[YourUserName]\Documents or %UserProfile%\Documents

And it would also be great if it were possible to edit multiple files at once.

Now the Documents folder is selected by default.

Feel free to test the "BETA PortableApps", version "Notepad3Portable_6.26.223.1_beta.paf" or newer, see 1st list in issue #1129.

• Notepad3Portable_6.26.223.1_beta.paf.exe.7z -s

"Notepad3Portable BETA PortableApps" version can be used with or without ".7z" extension.

Also, feel free to test the "BETA Setup", version "Notepad3_6.26.223.1_beta_Setup" or newer, see the 2nd list in issue #1129.
