Todo-checkboxes don't work when self-compiling

Hi there,

a strange observation: When I compile the source code myself, everything apparently works, with one exception: Checking an unchecked Todo-checkbox doesn't seem to have any effect. Unchecking a checked one, though, does what it is supposed to do.

If I don't use the self-compiled version but the AppImage, both checking and unchecking works.

Any idea what might be the reason for this?

Versions used:

• Appimage 2.1.11-80bb1b1
• Cource code 2.1.11 (2025-09)

OS is Linux Mint Mate 21.3.

Open the source via 'View - Show Source', and check the html for the checkbox.

In the html code snippet

this.src = this.src.indexOf('file:///home/bezierr/Desktop/another folder/nixnote2local/usr/share/nixnote2/images/checkbox.png') == -1 ?

there can't be a space character in the URL. If I replace the space with %20, like this

this.src = this.src.indexOf('file:///home/bezierr/Desktop/another%20folder/nixnote2local/usr/share/nixnote2/images/checkbox.png') == -1 ?

it works.

Now, I can't change my system setup just for Nixnote2, but as a workaround, I could move the self-compiled code to a location where there is no space in the URL.

I guess something like defaultUrl.replace(" ", "%20") in global.cpp after lines 1614 and 1615 might do the job?

There is QString::toHtmlEscaped() in qt5. and Qt::escape in qt4. These two may be better. :)

But according to https://doc.qt.io/archives/qt-5.15/qstring.html#toHtmlEscaped , that would not replace the blank with a %20.

Made the changes with the Qstring::replace function, and now, as expected, it works :-)
