Talk Title: at://protopilled (or @ Prototyping Digital Communities of the Future)
Talk Description: Authenticated Transfer Protocol (atproto) is a decentralized, large-scale protocol for social media applications that can be leveraged to own your own social media presence. Commonly, we are at the whims of corporations not only maintaining but also extracting and selling our own data. ATProto offers an alternative: a self-hosted, federated, platform with a globalized feed. Compared to other protocols such as ActivityPub (Mastodon) and Matrix, atproto allows for customized feeds (firehoses), and portable content between servers. This talk will come with examples of interesting implementations of atproto, along with a starter kit to verify your bluesky profile and create your own self-hosted atproto PDS (personal data server)!
