RSTP protocol configuration problem

I have been using RSTP recently on Linux, I have encountered some problems:
my device is required to support RSTP, but the switch port connected to it supports RSTP or not. How should I set it?How about making sure my device does not calculate the switch ports that do not support RSTP and goes directly into forwarding mode?

The RSTP daemon is deprecated. Use the MSTP daemon from Cumulus instead
