Obtaining list of transition notations

In conjunction with the spectral line list that is given at https://var.sron.nl/SPEX-doc/physics/linelist.pdf, it would be nice to have a list that defines the transitions that are given there (e.g., what A8B means). I see in Table 3 of https://var.sron.nl/SPEX-doc/physics/trpb01.pdf that these notations are given in Table 3 of Mewe et al 1985. I'm wondering if some updates were made to that list; I see A8 present, but I don't see A8B.

Please let me know if there's an updated list of transition notations, and if so, where I could obtain it (preferably in a way that I could copy/paste it to a CSV file on my computer for a lookup table).

Thank you for reporting the issue. The spectral line list you referred to is an outcome of SPEX version 2 run. My understanding is that this list experienced only minor update (e.g., maybe a few fix to wavelength bugs), the majority of the list including the notations has not been changed since SPEX version 3 came out. Meanwhile, for species of low ionization states such as Fe IX you mentioned, SPEX version 2 is indeed the only available data for the moment. Reason for that is calculating new atomic data for all processes to Ar sequence is a long way to go, though I am sure we will be there at some point in the future.

As for the A8B example, I checked the notation of Ar sequence in the line list. What I found is that it does not always follow the rule in the paper Mewe et al. 1985. Below (also in the file attached) I give the transitions that I came up with based on my own calculation.

I do not know why the notation sometimes differs from Mewe et al, and how about the other sequences. But I am sure that we should come up with a new guide to the notations and replace the old reference with the new table.
